Glyn Ceiriog
If you live in Glyn Ceiriog, or the surrounding area you can attend either the Glyn Ceiriog surgery or Llangollen. The telephone number for Glyn Ceiriog is 01691 718568 and a receptionist is available between 8:45 am until 12:30 pm. There is access for wheelchairs and toilet facilities for the disabled.
Plas Madoc
The National Assembly for Wales originally funded a three year project to establish a nurse led service for the population of Plas Madoc and the surrounding area. Unfortunately, this funding has now been withdrawn but we still continue to have a surgery five mornings a week at Plas Madoc. A doctor visits Plas Madoc regularly and appointments for nurses and doctors can be made by telephoning Plas Madoc on 01978 810182. There is access for wheelchairs.
The Doctors
Dr Rhys Davies MB BCh (1980 Liverpool) LRCP, MRCS, MRCGP, DRCOG, FPCert., Diploma Palliative Medicine.
Dr Davies is a native of Llangollen and a Welsh speaker. He has particular expertise in palliative care.
Dr Ann Evans MB BCh (1980 Cardiff) DCH DCCH MRCGP DRCOG FPCert.
Dr Evans is a fluent Welsh speaker and has an interest in women's health. She is a GP trainer.
Dr Janet Knight MB BCh (1989 Cardiff) DRCOG MRCGP.
Dr Knight has particular expertise in sports medicine and women's health. She is a GP trainer
Dr Robert Tanner BA (hons) BM BCh (1992 Oxford) MRCGP.
Dr Tanner is course organiser for the Wrexham GP vocational training scheme. He is also a GP Trainer.
Dr Alison Hughes MB. BCh (1991 Cardiff) MRCGP. FP.Cert. Diploma in Obs (NZ) . She is also a GP Trainer

GP Registrars.
The practice is approved for training doctors who want to be GPs. Dr Ann Evans and Dr Robert Tanner and Dr Alison Hughes are accredited trainers. GP Registrars are fully qualified doctor and they undertake a year's supervised experience in general practice. Registrars are a valuable addition to our team. Video recordinggs of consultations are an important aspect of gp practice training but these will only be undertaken with your consent
Dr Jenny Leigh is our 1st GP registrar and will be with the practice from February 2009 until February 2011.Jenny is a fully qualified doctor, and she is undertaking her specialist training with us to become a GP.
Dr Nick Von Hirschberg is our 2nd GP registrar and will be with us from February 2010 until July 2010. Nick is a fully qualified doctor, and like Jenny is undertaking his specialist training with us to become a GP.
Dr Jonathan Edwards is our 3rd GP Registrar and he will be with us until July 2010. Jonathan is a fully qualified doctor, and like Jenny & Nick he is indertaking his specialist training with us to become a GP.
Medical Students
From time to time final year medical students are attached to the Practice to observe. They are always closely supervised and are clearly identified to you as students. You have the right to refuse to be treated in the presence of a student, but your co-operation in preparing the next generation of doctors willl be greatly appreciated.

Our practice nurses undertake health checks, immunisations and cervical smears, and run chronic disease clinics for asthma, diabetes and coronary heart disease. They are keen to offer advice on smoking cessation and contraception.
Several nurses have undertaken additional training in treating minor ailments. Sister Davies has special resonsibilty for our Plas Madoc surgery.
HEALTH CARE ASSISTANTS. (HCA)

This is a fairly new concept for general practice. HCAs work under the guidance of a qualified nurse and have undertaken training in phlebotomy(taking blood), checking blood pressure and performing ECGs.

Staff Development
The practice participates in the Wrexham Local Health Board Practice Development Programme. We will sometimes be closed for part of an afternoon to allow our practice team some protected time for important educational and developmental projects. Medical cover for urgent problems is provided via the Wrexham GP co-operative. Your telephone call will be transferred automatically to the co-op on these occasions.
Other Information
The Patient's Trust seeks to promote good health in all patients registered with the practice. Their fundraising efforts have enabled the practice to purchase medical equipment to help our patients; some of the items include:
